How to Use Banners

Has the spring time weather hit your part of the world?  Amazing how a little bit of sunshine and warm weather can boost your spirits!  Today we're going to talk about how to use banners in your layouts.  When I started digi-scrapping, I had no idea how to use banners.  I was very comfortable hanging birthday banners on the walls for my son's birthday parties, but that was the extent of my banner experience.  LOL!  Now I love using banners.  They're great for adding a pop of color to your pages, plus they can be used as a focal point on your page or tucked under a photo.

So let's take a look at how Cheri's Dream Big Designs Creative Team worked their magic with banners.  First let's look at Lynnette's page.  You can place the banner in the middle of the page as a center focal point.    This checkered flag banner is so bold and so universally known, it serves as a great point of emphasis on the page.

Other times you might want to angle the banner from the corners like on Heather's layout.

And don't forget that you can string two banners together, check out Lynnette's layout.  Not just to create one longer banner, but also to angle them like you're hanging them from the walls.

Now, to get a little tricker with you banners, you can start tucking them under your photos and using them in clusters like Ronda did.  Look how this banner just blends right into the clustering under these 2 photos.

Here's another example from Brittany of how the banner isn't too overpowering on the layout and it add lots of color under the photos.

Sometimes you'll want to use more than 1 banner on the page under your photos.  Here Cami  has strung together 2 banners, angled them and placed them under 2 different photo clusters.

Look at this gorgeous page from Angela.  The banner and the leaves are popping out of the envelope along with the photo.

Most times you'll need to tack down your banners by using a button, staple or clip like Roxana did with these 2 banners.

And lastly, look how Jenn has these banners coming and going from both sides of the page.  Only a very small part of the banner is showing, but it adds lots of drama to the page.

So whenever you need some inspiration about how to use an element or technique, it's always a good idea to take a walk through the galleries.  Can't wait to see all the new ways you'll be including banners into your layouts now!!  Have a great week!
