Water and Ice

When you're a kid, going to the playground and sliding down the slides is something you can do over and over again.  When you add water to all those slides and call it a water park, you've created the ultimate in fun full of splashing and giddy squeals!!  Inspired by all the water fun you can have at Disneyworld's Blizzard Beach, this new kit combines splashy pool fun with cool, icy decorations.
Kelly is proud to introduce to you today...

This kit is filled with 15 papers in splashy colors and wavy patterns.  There's so many waterpark elements like a water slide, sun shine, inner tubes, floats, goggles, bathing suits, beach ball, sunglasses and flip flops.  Plus to match the icy decorations at Blizzard Beach, Kelly has included a snowman, ski chalet, skis, snow capped mountains, pine tree and snow flakes.  The full alpha is a cool icy white outlined in beachy blue.

Take a look at all the fabulous clustered items you get in the 'Water & Ice Page Starters'.  There's 3 word art title, a splashy border, 2 frame clusters and a gorgeous cluster strip.  So cool!

You'll find the 'Water & Ice' kit and page starters at KellybellDesigns.com for 25% off this weekend only.

The colors in this kit are fabulous for scrapping all your fun inside the water parks and anywhere around the pools.  There's so much watery fun to scrap here!  Take a look at the page I made.  This was the pool slide at  Port Orleans French Quarter.

Now it's time to slip and slide around the Creative Team to grab some splashy goodies.  Hang on to your inner tubes while you slide around though Jenn's Blog, Jessica's Blog and  Wendy's Blog.  Give them a high five along the way and leave a little love for the girls.  Enjoy and happy scrapping!

Cool Statistics Counter For Your Blog

If you have a blog, did you ever wonder how many people are looking at you, how did they get to your blog and what pages are the most popular on your blog?  Well, there's a cool tool that I use called StatCounter that tracks all that information about your blog in a very easy to read format.  StatCounter is free and easy to install.  On my blog, it was a few lines of code to add and it's all invisible to your readers.

You can check out their demo and see this main summary page that shows how many people visited your blog each day.  Pretty cool, huh?

There's lots of other information you can see about your blog.  Things like which site they came from to get to your blog, what countries they're from, how long they stayed at your site.  Lot's of neat statistics.

So if you're looking for a free tool to track your blog activity, you might want to check out StatCounter.  Hope you have a great week!

A Splash of Happy From Natalie's Place Designs

Natalie's got a sunny and fresh new kit just released today called 'A Splash of Happy'.  It's a gorgeous collection of yellows, oranges and blues.  Just looking at the preview makes you think of being outside on a sunny day.  There's a fabulous sand castle, Adirondack chair, beach umbrella, flip flops, sunshine burst, sand scatter, several splashy word strips and lots more.

To coordinate with the kit, Natalie made a gorgeous set of word art titles.

And check out these cluster sets with beautiful frames.

You can find all of Natalie's gorgeous creations at her blog store at Natalie's Little Corner of the World.

I just love the color combinations in this kit.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to scrap our character breakfast at Cape May Cafe.  The beachy costumes that Minnie, Donald and Goofy wear are a perfect match for this kit.  Here's my 2 page layout.

Since I loved the colors in this kit, I made a paper stack freebie for you.  Might be a nice starter background for a pool or beach layout.  Enjoy and happy scrapping!

A Fun Tip About Blending Papers

I love textures and patterns!  Even on a solid paper, I love for it to have a texture to it.  The textures add a fabulous depth and richness to your pages.  When you start stacking papers together, the textures and patterns help to differentiate the colors.  Sometimes with a solid paper, I like to liven it up by blending 2 papers together.  Many times I like the color of the solid paper, but want to add a slight pattern to it.  Blending papers is such a simple task.

So let's start with a fun and bold kit like Dream Big Designs 'Pizza Plus Games'.  And if you've ever been to Chuck E. Cheese, you know that loud, bold and noisy is the norm!!

We'll start with this pretty solid yellow paper and find something with a pattern to blend into it.

Looking through the papers in this kit, I like the square windows in this paper.  I also made sure that the patterned paper is somewhat coordinating in color shades.

So I place the green checkered paper in a layer above the solid yellow paper.  I change the blending mode to "Overlay" and then soften the opacity quite a bit down to 43%.

And here is the resulting blended paper.  A solid yellow paper with some square checks to it!

Let's try another example.  We'll start with this solid cardboard purple paper.

I spotted this cool paper with lots of stars on it.

I place the white star paper in a layer above the solid purple paper.  I changed the blending mode to "Soft Light" which has a slightly lighter feel than Overlay does.  And I slide the opacity way down to 39%.

And here you go.  That same purple cardboard paper but now decorated with a few stars.

Easy peasy, huh?  Give it a try sometime and experiment with different blending modes!  Blending 2 papers together gives your kit a lot more versatility!  Hope you have a fabulous week!
