Rather Be Camping By Natalie's Place Designs

Natalie's announcing an adorable camping kit today that is very special to her family.  Their family camper is what brought them down to Disney where they discovered they could combine their love of camping with their love of Disney.  You can't beat that!!!  This kit has fabulous colors for outdoor pages, roasting marshmallows by the fire, nature hikes and overnight campouts.  Plus it's very versatile to match several Disney characters.  The circle alpha is wonderful!!

Stop over to Natalie's Blog to pick up this kit and her matching word art freebie!  Here's my layouts.  The topiary at the entrance to Epcot last April had a camping theme to it so it was a perfect photo to scrap with this kit.

It's hard not to like Chip and Dale.  They are so cute and fuzzy!  Dinner at Garden Grill is becoming a family favorite for us.  The food is pretty good and the character interaction can't be beat!

Your freebie today is a matching paper stack.  Hope you like it!  Make sure you check out the layouts and freebies from Natalie's other CT gals -- stop by Cynthia's Blog, Sandy's Blog and Lisa's Blog.  Enjoy and happy scrapping!

Need A Haircut??

Getting your baby's first haircut is such a wonderful event.  Snapping pictures to get the 'before' and 'after' results is a must-do.  And grabbing a lock of cut hair to put in your baby book is just precious.  Today, Natalie has captured all the wonder of getting a haircut in her new kit 'At The Barbershop'.  She's included lots of adorable haircut elements with scissors, combs, mirrors, clippers, hair locks, a barbershop pole and several before/after tags.  Take a look...

The Harmony Barber Shop at Magic Kingdom is tucked in a little corner at the start of Main Street.  One of these trips I'd love to have the boys get a cool haircut there!

We visited the Hall of Presidents on our June trip.  Matthew had been learning about them in second grade so he was very interested in seeing the show.  We also got a great picture in the stockade in the middle of Liberty Square.

I also had to scrap Andrew's first haircut with he was just 11 months old.  He did great!!  They put him in a fire truck car with a steering wheel and that entertained him the whole time!

Head on over to Natalie's Blog to pick up this adorable kit and to grab her freebie.  Next stop will be to Cynthia's Blog, Lisa's Blog and Sandy's Blog to get their goodies.  Enjoy and happy scrapping.

Q. How did you get into Digital Scrapbooking?
I've always been a very artistic, creative person. My daughter married an American boy (long story but it's the best love story you'll ever hear) on such short notice in December 2009 that none of his family were able to get passports to attend, and only my husband, our son & myself were there for her side of the family. There were very few photos. I decided that the best Christmas gift for his family and our family would be a scrapbook of the pictures that we did have. I knew that I would never be able to make 12 traditional scrapbooks so I looked into making a photo book. I started in March 2010 with a free version of Digital Scrapbook Artist 2, found some tutorials online and taught myself the basics, and the book was ready to print in late September. I've since upgraded from DSA2 and now I mostly use PSE9 but I also have PSCS5 which I'm teaching myself to use. The photo book turned out very nice and everybody who has seen it loves it, although when I look at it now I cringe! My style has definitely changed and my skills have improved a lot in the year since then!

Q. What brought you to Kellybell Designs?
I had a lot of Disney photos to scrap and I stumbled onto the MouseScrappers website somehow. I started seeing some amazing LOs and took note of the designers being credited. Kelly was one designer whose kits I loved, and I developed a large collection of them pretty quickly. I remember feeling very jealous of the talented CT members she had because I thought they were so lucky to be able to play with her kits!

Q. What has been your best moment as a member of Kelly's Team?
Oh gosh, how can I choose?! I'm serious - I've only been here 6 months but there have been so many best moments! How about the day that I was invited to join Kelly's team as a Guest CT? It might have been how quickly I was welcomed to the team by everybody. Then there was the day that I was invited to stay with the team permanently. Maybe it was the day that I quit feeling shy and inadequate, and started feeling confident that I belonged here. Or how about the day that I realized that all of us girls are not just a team of strangers -- we're friends and we all truly care about each other. I think that the last one is the one I'll go with! I love this team! We have the best team, we each have our strengths that we bring to the scrapping part of the team; but most of all every one of the girls is awesome, and we've got each others' backs.

Q. In addition to being a member of the team .. tell us a little about you.
I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 26 years, but we've been together for 30 years. We have two wonderful "adults" now (can't call them kids anymore!) - our son is 23, and our daughter is 21 and married to a man I adore and consider to be my own son. I live in the middle of Canada, in Winnipeg, where we have to deal with short hot summers and long cold winters. I was in an accident 3 years ago that forced me to retire but I used to manage a small florist shop before that. I have always had an artistic streak in me, but until I discovered digi scrapping I didn't know how to let that artist out. I love to travel and have been to 6 Canadian provinces, 42 American states, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia. We love to road trip through the USA and we've just discovered that we also love to cruise. This fall we plan to combine our two loves by taking a 12000 km road trip and a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. By the end of this year, we'll have visited 49 states, with only Alaska left to visit -- which we'll do next summer, and we'll have added the Bahamas to the list of countries we've visited. Oh and we're having a mid-life crisis... we just bought a Honda Goldwing motorcycle - can't wait for our first road trip on it!

Q. What is by far your favorite kit here at Kellybell Designs?
Boy you really like to ask the hard questions! That's kind of like asking which one of your kids is your favourite. I get really excited when I see Kelly introduce the princess-y kits, but I think I love her absolutely stunning Blooming in Adversity kit the most.

Q. What are your favorite layouts?
I think that these are probably my favorite LO's so far, both made with Blooming in Adversity. I love how drastically different that one kit can look:

Head over to Donna's blog because she has a freebie for you!
And don't forget your manners and give her some love!

We're Back From Our Disney Trip!!

We are finally back from a fabulous 11 night trip to Walt Disney World!  We were there for the last 2 Star Wars Weekends and we also stopped over to Universal to check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  The weather was sunny and warm every day, with not a drop of rain -- pretty unusual for early June.  It was hot, but not as blistering hot as it was for our June 2009 trip.  The boys were in heaven with all the Star Wars characters around, plus they got to bring their light sabers into Hollywood Studios so they made lots of new friends willing to have a light saber fight.  We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter for the first time.  It was a beautiful resort that was very small and compact.  Our room was right next to the pool and very close the the food court.  Just perfect!!  We started at rope drop every day and came to the hotel for a rest or swim around 2pm.  Then back again for dinner and more park fun.

Here was our daily schedule...
Thursday - evening arrival at Port Orleans French Quarter
Friday - Universal Studios, then Epcot for dinner
Sat/Sunday - Hollywood Studios
Monday - Epcot
Tuesday - Magic Kingdom (early morning Extra Magic Hours)
Wednesday - Universal Islands of Adventure, then Epcot for dinner
Thursday - Animal Kingdom
Friday - Hollywood Studios
Saturday - Magic Kingdom
Sunday - Hollywood Studios
Monday - mini golf and fly home

Our trip included the free dining plan so we tried out some new places to eat plus some old favorites.  Some new places we tried were Flying Fish, Olivia's Cafe, Tutto Italia, Columbia Harbor House, and some yummy snacks at Starring Rolls.  Matthew's favorite is Sci-Fi so we ate there twice.  Plus we had several character meals like Garden Grill, Cape May Cafe, Tusker House, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table.  My favorite was the mushroom filet mignon at Le Cellier and eating tiramisu wherever I could find it for dessert!!!  We certainly got plenty to eat on this trip.

Our little Andrew finally reached 48 inches tall (he just barely squeaked by!), so we were able to ride a few new rides.  Our new favorite is Rock N Roller coaster!!  It went so fast but so smooth and the Aerosmith music made doing the upside down loops not so bad.  The boys loved it even though they said it made them woozy.  We also rode Space Mountain and Dinosaur for the first time.  The Forbidden Journey Harry Potter ride was WILD and amazing.  The theming there was incredible.  I'd love to go there again when it wasn't so crowded.

Since it was Star Wars Weekends, we spent most of our time at Hollywood Studios, checking out all the characters and riding the new Star Tours ride which was soooo cool!!  The ride changes every time and I think we saw all the different segments.  The boys did Jedi Training Academy 3 times and Matthew got selected twice to fight Jack Sparrow at the Pirate Tutorials.  We saw a few new characters like Angelica from the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Phineas and Ferb, Duffy Bear and Chip and Dale at Tomorrowland.  Seemed like every day had something new and exciting this trip!

I can't wait to start scrapping all the new photos.  I took over 1400 pictures and am working through all the Photopass pictures so I can order my Photopass CD.  It's so hard to pick out just a few pictures to show you...

This is Arneil, the doorman at Port Orleans French Quarter.  Every day we passed by him and he gave the boys some Mardi Gras coins.

We were so lucky to get Kit Fitso, Shaak Ti and Mace Windu all in one photo!!

Same thing with Luke, Leia and C3PO.

Matthew was super excited to see the R2-MK droid with Jedi Mickey!!

Enough of the good guys, let's move on to the Dark Side.  Darth Maul is my favorite because he's just so SCARY!!!  Here's my favorite shot of him and Matthew.

And we found several of the roaming Star Wars characters like the Stormtroopers, Aurra Sing, Zam Wessell and the Gammorean Guard.  There were 3 Tuscan Raiders roaming around the area near Jango Fett's meet and greet.

Here's Andrew fighting Darth Vader in the Jedi Training Academy.

We got an invitation to participate in the Trip To The Maul show with Ray Park who is the actor who played Darth Maul.  The show was awesome and several kids came up on stage to perform with him.  They got to keep the red light sabers they were given, so that make all the kids happy!!  Matthew is standing right behind Ray in the white shirt.

Phineas and Ferb were just introduced at Hollywood Studios as new characters about 2 weeks ago.  It's a cool set up with lots of dancing and a little show around it.  The characters are adorable!!

On our last day at Hollywood Studios, I got to meet up with Cynthia and her family (from Natalie's CT).  What a treat that was!!  Her kids are adorable and Cynthia is sooooo super sweet.  Of course, lots of pictures were taken of us together!!

Our families rode Toy Story Mania together.  We put the kids together so Cynthia and I could ride together.  She taught me a few tricks about how to get a higher score on the ride!  Sweet!  It was just wonderful to finally meet her!!

Matthew got to fight against Jack Sparrow at Magic Kingdom.  They only pick 4 kids (2 are girls and 1 is a bigger boy).  Matthew always gets chosen as the bigger boy and that means he fights against Jack Sparrow instead of Mack.

We met Angelica, the newest pirate in the Pirates of the Carribbean movie.  She was very pretty!!

We finally found the big troll in Norway.  I'd seen lots of layouts with the troll, but we've never taken pictures with him.  So this time I made sure we stopped for photos.

And last is one of my favorite characters, Minnie at Chef Mickeys dinner.

We really did have a fabulous and magical trip!  Now I need to finish my April 2010 photobook from our last trip.  I've got so many new cool photos to scrap.  Can't wait!!

Walking Down Main Street

As you walk through the entrance into Magic Kingdom and stand in the middle of Town Square, you can't help but gasp at the beauty of Main Street as it leads your eye towards Cinderella's Castle. It just takes your breath away! Inspired by Walt Disney's childhood and Lady In The Tramp, Main Street's decor is early 20th-century small town America. You can browse up and down Main Street, stopping in the shops or grabbing a quick bite. Just the thought of standing in the middle of Main Street as you start your day at Magic Kingdom is enough to give you goosebumps!!

Here's something else that will give you goosebumps.... Kellybell Designs and Keystone Scraps have teamed up together to create TWO kits inspired by Main Street. Their Creative Teams have worked on layouts to showcase both kits! And the teams are offering a Word Art Blog Train! Can it get any better than that!! So grab yourself a cinnamon roll or croissant from the Main Street Bakery, have a seat in your cafe chair, and take a look at these beautiful kits. We proudly present to you...

These kits really capture the old fashioned elegance and tradition of Main Street. The color scheme of peach, green and cream blend well with all the quaint shops and eateries. Kellybell's kit features 10 papers and over 45 elements along with a full gold alpha. Keystone Scraps kit features 20 papers, a full scalloped alpha and over 70 elements. The kits are sold separately in Kellybell's Store and Keystone Scraps Store.
Both kits are on sale at 25% off thru Sunday night! So be sure to pick them both up!

Take a look at what I scrapped with these beautiful kits.  This page features Main Street pictures courtesy of Mark Barbieri using Kellybell kits with a few flowers from Keystone Scraps kit.
